Graduate confident and well-prepared to succeed

Upper School (9th through 12th Grade)

Ranney’s rigorous and dynamic Upper School curriculum is designed to engage and challenge each student in their educational journey. Small class sizes (12-18 students) and our strong Advisory program nurture students’ academic achievement, special talents, independence, emotional intelligence, and character. Teachers challenge every student uniquely and often provide students guidance beyond academics. Ranney’s College Counseling Office is dedicated to getting to know and supporting each individual’s strengths and aspirations.

Ranney offers 25 AP courses and the opportunity to pursue either a STEAM or Global Studies certificate. The Maymester program offers our 9th through 11th grade students the opportunity to engage in an experiential learning program during the last two weeks of school. Program options range from international trips to local or regional experiences, coursework, and professional internships. In 12th grade, students may pursue a year-long Capstone research project. Curricular choices include a vast array of course from Coding and Robotics to Heros and Villians and Shakespeare.

Our students are encouraged to pursue talents and interests in a wide range of student life activities including the visual and performing arts, athletics, robotics, leadership, and community service. In the arts, students may elect to participate in Jazz Band, Concert Chorus, or Orchestra. Upper School students produce a fall play and a spring musical. Visual arts courses include Sculpture, Glass, and Digital Media.

Ranney School is a member of the Shore Conference (B Central Division), the NJISAA Prep State Association, and the NJSIAA (Non-Public B) State Association. We offer 19 interscholastic sports across three seasons, and have more than 24 Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. Ranney offers unique opportunities in crew, fencing, golf, and sailing.
