An Early Start Leads to a Strong Finish

Lower School (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)

Small class sizes and collaborative learning teams enable our faculty to know each child’s strengths and encourage growth. Our curriculum includes Singapore Math, the Orton-Gillingham literacy approach, and a STEAM-focused, inquiry-based approach to science. Student can choose to study Spanish, Mandarin, or French. Across disciplines, our Lower School faculty employ experiential learning activities to cultivate curiosity and a natural love of learning. During each cycle, children visit science labs, art and music studios, world language classrooms, our community garden, the Searle Library, the playground, and our indoor heated pool for aquatics instruction.

In the upper grades of Lower School, children have a choice of electives, including Robotics, Band, Orchestra, Graphic Art, or Chorus. Students in 4th and 5th grades can participate as actors and set designers in the Lower School play. Students build confidence as they perform and engage in public speaking at Lower School gatherings and special events in our Panther Hall auditorium. As a campus spanning age 3 through grade 12, students have opportunities to learn from older students and mentor younger students, all while learning to be good citizens and contributing members of our community.

Ranney’s expansive campus offers a multitude of unique experiences where children can discover their talents and build the confidence to find their own path to success.

We look forward to welcoming you to Ranney School and working with you and your family during the Admissions process!
