Thomas Li '28 Accepted to NJ Regional Jazz Band

Congratulations to Thomas Li '28 on his successful audition for the NJ Region 2 Junior Jazz Band. Thomas, a Ranney Upper School Jazz Band and Jazz Combo member, prepared an audition consisting of a prepared piece, Standard Drum grooves, and sight reading. He finished first among the other candidates in grades 7 through 9 who auditioned for the drum set chair.  
 
Thomas is rehearsing with the Region 2 Junior Jazz Band, directed by Ms. Catherine Madewell. The band will perform at Piscatway High School on April 6th at 3 p.m.  
 
"Congratulations to Thomas, who is a dedicated musician," said All-School Band Director Mr. John Propper. "Drum set auditions for an honors jazz ensemble, such as NJ Region 2 Junior Jazz Band, are consistently competitive, and on this day, Thomas was able to finish first.  Very impressive."
