Ariana Mangano '19 Joins Columbia's National Champion Fencing Team
The Columbia University fencing team won the National Championship last year, and Ranney School’s Ariana Mangano ’19 has joined the team as a freshman this year, along with 11 other newcomers.
"We are extremely thrilled to welcome our incoming class of champions," said the Lions' head coach Michael Aufrichtig. "I am confident they will bring whatever it takes to continue our tradition of excellence."
Ariana earned a team gold medal at Bratislava Junior World Cup and placed seventh at Junior World Championships in team epee in 2018. She competed at Junior World Championships in 2017 and 2018, picking up a bronze medal in 2017 and placing seventh in 2018. At Ranney, she was inducted into both the National and Spanish Honor Societies, as well as being a key member of the chorus.
