Ranney School dedicates Science Wing and Labs

On Monday, September 9, Ranney School dedicated the Abboud Science Wing,  Gala Family Lab, and Archimedes Lab. The large, state-of-the-art labs were designed to integrate theoretical instruction and real-world exploration of scientific concepts through experimentation and project-based learning. Ranney Board Trustee and architect, Christian Giordano incorporated flexible workspaces, spacious custom casework for storage, and important safety features—such as eyewash stations and safety showers—and access to a new outdoor patio that expands experiential learning opportunities as well as a new spacious office for faculty. High ceilings, sliding glass doors, and well-placed windows create a bright, open environment. The project completes the transformation of the first floor of the Annex building, complementing the Virdi Lab for chemistry and significantly upgrading Ranney’s STEAM facilities.

The project was made possible through the generous philanthropic support of Ranney Board of Trustees Vice Chair Michael Abboud and his wife, Cathy Abboud; grandparents Dr. Kanti and Mrs. Lata Gala along with Neil and Sirisha Gala and Kavan and Anjali Desai; and Dr. Dimitri and Mrs. Elizabeth Lambrou. In addition, the project was supported by generous contributions from Ranney parents Dr. Rajiv and Mrs. Divya Uppal, the Ranney School Parents’ Association, and other generous supporters of the Ranney Fund.  

“These new spaces will enhance opportunities for our incredibly talented STEAM faculty to engage students in exploring solutions for real-world problems while fostering creative and critical thinking skills,” said Head of School, Dr. John Griffith. “We are incredibly grateful to the families who made this significant project possible. They are empowering our faculty to inspire the next generation of scientists, medical professionals, engineers, and entrepreneurs who will shape the future.”
