Scottie Lewis '19 and Bryan Antoine '19 Earn Preseason Honors

Ranney School seniors Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis are both listed in the USA TODAY High School Sports 25-player American Family Insurance ALL-USA preseason boys’ basketball team for the 2018-19 season, unveiled on Nov. 15.

The team was selected by USA TODAY Sports’ Jason Jordan in consultation with the USA TODAY High School Sports staff and various recruiting analysts and high school coaches.

Lewis and Antoine were also named to the Naismith Trophy Watch List. Fifty players are named for the Boys High School Player of the Year award. The Player of the Year and All-America teams will be announced in March by teh Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Antoine (No. 9) and Lewis (No. 14) are also both listed in USA Today’s The Chosen 25, rankings compiled by Jason Jordan with input from USA TODAY Sports’ staff and recruiting experts and writers from around the country. The Chosen 25, released on Nov. 14, is based heavily on high school and current play and production on the stat sheet and otherwise. It is also taken into account how the player projects as a prospect at the next level and beyond.

“Antoine is part of a killer one-two Ranney School punch with Scottie Lewis,” writes Jason Jordan. “The No. 9 player in the 2019 Chosen 25 is able to defend multiple positions and put up 21.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.5 steals in a championship year last season. Antoine is a versatile scorer with the size and length to guard multiple positions.”

“Among the most athletic players in the nation, Lewis defends eagerly, finds open teammates and can score the ball himself,” said Jordan. “Lewis, who is the No. 14 in the 2019 Chosen 25, and Bryan Antoine are going for a repeat championship this year. Lewis is a high-riser with a relentless motor and the size and length to dominate on both ends playing and guarding multiple positions.”

The Ranney boys’ basketball season will begin with scrimmages on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8, with the first game slated for Dec. 14 against West Nottingham Academy.
