Panther Athletic Hall of Fame: Coach Barbara Bongiovanni
Barbara Bongiovanni has been a member of the Ranney Athletic Department for the past 30 years. Throughout her tenure as a teacher, mentor, and coach, she has nurtured generations of Ranney student-athletes, watching them grow from Beginners to Alumni. Known as “Coach B.,” Mrs. Bongiovanni has coached Varsity Girls’ Soccer, Middle School Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis, and Middle School Girls’ Basketball teams. She led her 1987 Varsity Girls’ Soccer team to the state finals, where they unfortunately lost in a double overtime thriller.  She also led her Middle School Tennis teams to five undefeated seasons.  No matter the end result, Coach Bongiovanni always holds high expectations for her student-athletes, encouraging them to be team players and to reach their full potential on and off the field.
Coach Bongiovanni’s commitment and dedication to student-athletes at Ranney School is not limited to the athletic fields. She has taught Physical Education and Aquatics to every grade level and served on various school committees, including Middle States, Health and Wellness, Hall of Fame, and Athletic Planning.
Coach Bongiovanni received Ranney’s Carol Ann Presley Award for teaching excellence in 2004, and continues to be a nurturing and beloved coach.

Visual & Performing Arts Hall of Fame: Mr. John Doyle, Director of Performing Arts
John Doyle has been a valued member of the Ranney faculty since 2000, teaching Drama courses throughout all divisions and serving as the school’s lead production director. A skilled actor, director, vocalist, and teacher, he has elevated the Performing Arts Program to where it is today.
Prior to joining Ranney, Mr. Doyle had an extensive career in the Performing Arts. The recipient of the 1972 Brick Township Fine Arts Guild College Scholarship, he began doing summer stock productions at age 16 before moving to New York City. There, Mr. Doyle performed in a number of on- and off-Broadway plays, as well as in film, television shows, and commercials. He also served as the Stage Manager and Property Supervisor of the New York Shakespeare Festival.
At Ranney, Mr. Doyle has advised and coached the Lower School’s Drama Activity, Middle School Forensics, Theater History, and Theater Games programs. He has developed Middle School electives, such as Improvisation Basics and Cinematic Production, and most recently created Upper School Theater Electives in The Monologue and Scene/Partner Work. By the end of the 2016-17 school year, Mr. Doyle will have directed 35 productions at Ranney and built nearly 50 sets. In 2014, he was named Chair of the Performing Arts Department.
Mr. Doyle was inducted into Ranney’s Cum Laude Society Chapter in 2009, and earned the Faculty Panther Prize in 2008 for advancing the school’s mission in unique ways both in and outside of the classroom. In 2009, he received the Faculty Fellowship Award for dynamic qualities of leadership and, in 2014, the Daniel B. Goldberg Mission-Promise Award for demonstrating sustained leadership.

Between 1993 and 2000, she also served as Co-Director of Ranney’s summer school division. During her tenure, the program saw large increases in enrollment.
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Fowlkes served as a group leader for Ranney’s Middle States accreditation in late 1990s and volunteered on multiple committees.
