On Friday, May 20, the Upper School gathered for its final Honors Convocation ceremony. Led by department chairs, members of the senior class received awards for excellence in various disciplines and areas of service.In addition, members of the junior class were inducted into Ranney’s chapter of the National Honor Society.

Given each year to a senior who has one of the highest grades in the class and has demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of the role art plays in the history of civilization, developed the analytical skills to pick apart and interpret works of art and architecture, and demonstrated a love of the subject.

Recognizes an individual who possesses a deep understanding of advanced mathematics, performs at an exemplary level and is always pursuing knowledge with vision and honor.
Computer Science - Dean Parker
Recognizes an individual who achieves excellence in computer science, not only in the classroom, but also at competitions and in interdisciplinary projects.

Recognizes an individual that demonstrates, over a significant period of time, dedication to the promotion of and and great ability to learn the language and its culture.

The Theatre Excellence BackStage/Technical Award is presented to a performing arts student that has shown exemplary involvement and commitment to the technical aspects of staged productions during their Upper School career. The Theater Excellence on Stage Award is presented to a performing arts student that has shown exemplary involvement and commitment to the dramatic and musical productions during their Upper School career.
Visual Arts - James Geraghty (Painting and Drawing), Zachary Sullens (2D) and Stephanie Falletta (3D)
Given to a student who has taken all four years of Upper School studio art courses at Ranney School and maintained a high average in studio art all four years. The recipient must demonstrate in their artwork a clear understanding of the visual elements and the application of the principles of design in a creative and meaningful manner.
Ram Sheila Bharara Communications Award -Sophia Jackman
Given annually to a student who displays exemplary skills in writing, speaking and forensics, which encompasses public speaking, presentation skills, communicating and performing. In our school community, it is regarded as “The Great Communicator Award.”

Awarded to one student in each grade for being an exemplary member of our school community.
More than half of the senior class also received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence which comes with a signed letter from President Obama.
