Presenting Upper School Spring Musical: The Mystery of Edwin Drood

Ranney’s Thespian Troupe #630 proudly presents The Mystery of Edwin Drood. A winner of five Tony Awards for best musical, book, score, director and actor, five Outer Critics Circle Awards and eight Drama Desk Awards, Rupert Holmes’ “play within a play” closely depicts the last, unfinished novel of author Charles Dickens.

Join the cast of the “Music Hall Royal” — a British Victorian acting troupe — as they reenact a story to solve Charles Dickens’ incomplete mystery. In this story, a Jekyll and Hyde choirmaster known as John Jasper (Benjamin Puvalowski ’13) falls madly in love with his music student, the fair Miss Rosa Bud (Evelyn Giovine ’12). Miss Bud, however, is already engaged to Jasper’s newphew, Edwin Drood (Hannah Simpson ’12); that is until Drood mysteriously disappears one stormy Christmas Eve. Has Drood been murdered? If so, then who-dun-it?

To be presented in RSPA Panther Hall on three spectacular evenings, March 15, 16 and 17, Ranney’s production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood promises to offer a unique and hilarious surprise ending requiring that each audience member vote on an explanation for Drood’s mysterious disappearance.

Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door.
