MS to Host First-Ever Musical - Beauty and the Beast

Students, parents, faculty, family and friends are invited to experience the magic that is Beauty and the Beast as the Middle School division takes to the Robert’s Stage in RSPA Panther Hall for its first-ever musical on February 10 and 11, 2012.

Presented by the Middle School Performing Arts Department, Beauty and the Beast, Jr., depicts the well-known fairytale of a longing young girl named Belle (Evan Schultz ’17), who must constantly fend off the misplaced “affections” of her suitor, Gaston (Taylor Zenner ’17). As Belle wanders the French countryside searching for her lost father Maurice (Jerome Cohen ’16), she comes across an enchanted castle inhabited by a mangy Beast formerly known as Prince Adam (Karl Brand ’16), who was cursed by a vengeful Enchantress (Laura Lehrfeld ’18) for having no love in his arrogant heart. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn love — and earn love in return — before the last petal from an enchanted rose located in a case within his castle falls. With a little help from his very interesting group of friends, the Beast just might be able to win the heart of Belle.

Directed by Mrs. Lillianne P. Torrente, the musical’s storybook set and inventive costumes will have those in attendance falling in love with their favorite Disney characters all over again.
