Ranney Students Give Outstanding Performance on AP Exams

Fifty-five Ranney students were recently named Advanced Placement National Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

Fifty-five Ranney students were recently named Advanced Placement National Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.

Twenty-four Ranney students, including eight current students and 16 graduates from the Class of 2010 were named AP Scholars after receiving an average grade of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Nine Ranney students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor recognition after receiving an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. And eighteen students earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award: 14 current students and four 2010 graduates, for receiving an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Four recent graduates also qualified as National AP Scholars with an average score of at least four on all AP Exams taken, and scores of four or higher on eight or more of these exams.

The AP program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
