Ranney Students Take the AP Exams By Storm

Forty Ranney students have been named Advanced Placement National Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

Forty Ranney students have been named Advanced Placement National Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations. About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to earn this designation.


The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams. Four recent Ranney graduates (Class of 2009) were named National AP Scholars for receiving an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. They are: Katherine Adams, Christina Henricks, Gregory Stormes and Daniel Turtel.


Eighteen Ranney students earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award for receiving an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are: Aaron Absatz ‘09, Katherine Adams ‘09, Paul Allegra ‘09, Mary Breton '10, Alexis Connolly '10, Gregory Florek ‘09, Heather Flynn '10, Peter Giovine '10, Hannah Goldstein ‘09, Christina Henricks ‘09, Lauren Hoffman ‘09, Jeremy Lessing '10, Christopher Lombardi '10, Gregory Stormes ‘09, Christopher Tomasetta '10, Daniel Turtel ‘09, Manik Uppal '10 and Jessica Watkins ‘09.


Six Ranney students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award for receiving an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are: Rachel Brodsky '10, Christian Drappi '10, Kelly Harmon ‘09, Benjamin Mooney '10, George Parlamas '10 and Sophie Richards ‘09.


An additional twelve Ranney students earned the AP Scholar Award for receiving grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. They include: Mohamed Albana ‘09, Fares Ani ‘09, Benjamin Briggs '10, Olivia Clancy ‘09, Dana Cohen ‘09, Jill Giunco ‘09, Krista Irons '10, Samantha Marc '10, Anna Mrzyglocki ‘09, Elizabeth Natoli ‘09, Matthew Simpson '10 and Alexander Stolarz '10.


The AP program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
