Two Students Accepted into 2024 All-Shore Jazz Band

Ryan Hunter '26 and Jessie Yuan '27 were accepted to the 2024 All-Shore Jazz Band.  They earned their seats through a successful blind audition at Holmdel High School on Thursday, January 18, by performing a prepared etude and a sight-reading example.  
 
Jessie earned the piano seat in the All-Shore Jazz Band (A), and Ryan earned the 1st tenor saxophone seat in the All-Shore Lab Band (B).  They will rehearse with their ensembles for two weeks, performing at Manalapan High School on Saturday, February 3 at 3:00 PM.  
 
The All-Shore Jazz Band(s) form two traditional jazz bands (consisting of trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, bass, guitar, and drum set) from the best jazz band students in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  
 
"I'm so proud of Jessie and Ryan's accomplishments this year," said All-School Band Director Mr. John Propper.  "They will be representing the Ranney School Jazz Band in these prestigious bands.  Their hard work and dedication to their instrument, our band (and jazz combo), and this style of music have been recognized by the All-Shore Band Director's Association.  The next two weeks of their lives will be transformative."
