Celebrating Mr. Doug Felter's 16 Years of Service

Over the years, hundreds of Ranney students have admired the extensive collection of movie and theatre memorabilia that grace the walls of Doug Felter’s Upper School classroom. As he retires after 16 years in the Upper School English Department, Mr. Felter has graciously donated his entire collection to Ranney so that future Panthers can enjoy perusing the classic posters and theatre playbills, many of them signed by original cast members including Denzel Washington, Sally Field, Audra Macdonald, and other Broadway and Hollywood luminaries. At Mr. Felter’s request, Ranney School will keep his valuable collection intact and in the classroom. 
 
“Doug has been a master educator for more than 50 years and we’ve been fortunate to have him at Ranney for the last 16 of those years,” said Head of School, Dr. John Griffith, “As an Upper School faculty member, English Department Chair, and member of Ranney’s Cum Laude Society, Doug brought English literature and composition to life in his classroom, encouraging many of our students to pursue these interests in college and beyond.  His love for film, which he studied in graduate school at NYU and theatre are reflected in his collection, which has inspired students over the years. We’re incredibly grateful that he has decided to leave this impactful legacy to the school.”
